Giving the youth of an opportunity in one of the most disadvantaged regions in Hungary
Hello, I’m Sylvia. Earlier this year, I spent four months volunteering in Szécsény, Nógrád County, teaching English and German in local schools. This gave me the chance to connect with young people, learn about their lives, and see firsthand how limited their opportunities are, especially because there is no dedicated space where they can meet, create, or simply spend time together safely.
Nógrád County faces social and economic challenges, and young people here often lack access to community spaces, creative activities, or skill-building programs. That’s why Egyesek is creating a Youth Center in Szécsény, renovating an old building into a welcoming space with indoor rooms for workshops, meetings, and activities, plus a garden for outdoor programs.
The Youth Center will offer regular workshops and training, including language learning, creative and artistic activities, youth participation, meeting international volunteers, and cultural exchange programs, all within a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment. It will be a place where young people feel valued, heard, and empowered to grow.
The renovation is already underway, but key parts of the building still need funding, such as the front wing, interior furnishing, workshop equipment, and garden refurbishment. Your donation will help transform this building into a living, vibrant community space that serves the youth of Szécsény, a place where they can learn, create, and connect.
Please consider supporting my fundraising campaign. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to opening the Youth Center and giving local young people a safe, inspiring place to gather.
