Hello, I am Meike, I am from the Netherlands.
Two years ago, I did a long-term volunteering project in Szécsény, where I was introduced to the community of Szécsény and Nógrád. We went to youth centers and schools in the area, and it was such a wonderful experience to see how the local people and Egyesek built community with each other, shared joy, and learned from one another.
When my long-term volunteering project ended, I heard that Egyesek was planning to create their own youth center in Szécsény. I was so excited, because this meant young people there could finally have a space to come together, feel free, and explore. Last summer I even went back to Hungary to help with other volunteers to renovate the Youth Center.
Now, the renovation is still ongoing – and this is where I would love to ask for your help. By supporting my fundraising campaign, you are not only helping Egyesek to finish the Youth Center, but also supporting me in giving back to a community that gave me so much. Every donation to my page brings us closer to opening a safe, inspiring space for young people in Szécsény.
