We asked two previous participants of LifeCore to answer some questions to uncover what this unique personal development experience is all about. Adeline Serrand (France) participated in the program in April 2019 and Viktória Csaba (Hungary) took part in November 2019.
About LifeCore
An advanced personal development journey that enables you to meet yourself again from a different perspective and find your full potential. The LifeCore experience is for you to create a new context for yourself to live the life you wish to live. In 5 dynamic days of intense experience, you can learn how to handle your emotions, represent your own interests and opinions, connect with people, practice expressing your emotions more clearly and naturally and have new possibilities to create harmony for yourself.
In this article, you can read about the individual perspectives and reflections of Adeline and Viktória, who both participated in LifeCore.
Why did you decide to join?
Adeline: I did a training using a similar methodology a year before Lifecore which already gave me quite some insights about myself and how I lead my life [Egyesek's personal development training - Editor's note]. I eventually decided to join because it was a step further. I was struggling with figuring out what I really wanted for myself in life, specifically on a personal level, although it was quite intricate with work life. As I understood it, Lifecore would be the opportunity to get rid of the big pile of excuses I was making up for myself in order not to face what I wanted in life. I understood it right.
Viktória: At first, I thought that I didn't need any self-development training right now, because I was in the right place, I had decided to "start a new life", I had left my old job and I was finally doing what I was interested in. Luckily, I decided to take part after all. It became my habit to give myself experiences instead of things at Christmas, and that year LifeCore became my Christmas present.
Do you remember what you thought about or expected about the program before it happened?
Adeline: I expected some clarity, guidance and an impactful experience. I hoped the program would help me face my own limits and provide the support system to get through it step by step and to find the way up from there.
Viktória: I had never been on a programme of this kind before, so my experience of workplace training courses gave me an idea of what to expect. I thought the training would be frontal and theoretical, with older men (participants) taking notes on their laptops. I got something completely different.
What did LifeCore give you?
Adeline: Lifecore gave me a great push in life, not only to figure out what I want but to actively go for it. No more postponing, no more excuses. It also helped me consider my needs as they are, not as a burden to constantly fight against to fit other’s expectations. It also helped me take a step back from the intensity of things and accept to let go of what I can’t control.
Viktória: It has shone a light on some of the things that I hadn't wanted to notice before. It started me on a journey of self-awareness, and helped me to realise that I still have a lot of work to do on myself and that it is useful to get help.
What was your biggest learning in the program?
Adeline: The biggest learning takeaway is self-commitment: setting up goals, making plans, going for it, getting results. All this regardless of excuses such as what people think, money, time, weather - all kinds of things that would usually get in the way of taking action. It also supported me in asking for help and finding the solutions where they are instead of trying to make it on my own no matter what.
Viktória: What often comes to mind about the program is the idea that you have to help yourself first to help others. The truth of this became tangible to me there.
Do you see anything in your everyday life, personal or professional, that you think even now is influenced by your experiences with LifeCore?
Adeline: Six years after this experience, I am still implementing what I learned from Lifecore daily. I managed to reach the main goals I have set for myself after the training like building my own family, moving closer to my relatives and getting a job situation that fits me. Some goals are still yet to achieve but I feel that I have a clear picture of what is not working for me to get there, and what is in my power or not. My relationships also improved, as I know what is important to me and when to let go. It is a process of step-by-step actions which started the moment I stepped out of the training room. The most impactful effect is to manage to get out of the "freeze" feeling when faced with a big decision or a struggle by taking a step back and looking at the situation for what it is.
Viktória: We did LifeCore shortly before COVID-19, so in the very first, very uncertain and anxiety-inducing time, we met the group online so we could support each other, which was a comfort for me at the time. Some of us still follow each other's lives to this day, we meet up when we can. I have been deeply affected by the way the group functioned in LifeCore's circumstances, which I also remember in my work.
Who would you recommend the program for?
Adeline: I would recommend the program to anyone who feels disconnected from themselves, from what they want in life, and/or who needs clarity on the path to reach their goals. Although it is neither a therapy nor a magic trick, the Lifecore program can give the keys to improve, in the long term, self-acceptance and self-commitment.
Viktória: I would recommend it to people who are not afraid of confrontational methods and of seeing their own shortcomings.
We would like to thank Adeline and Viktória for taking the time to share their perspective on LifeCore. It is something unique and highly personal, bringing something different for each individual who decides to embark on this journey. Sounds intriguing?
LifeCore will return to Hollókő in April 2025 for one last time - and we still have a few places left. Are you ready to dive in?
