Personal Development
Take a moment to ask yourself: “Am I creating the results I want as a member of my community? How about as a professional?” If so, would you like to expand it and make more of it? If not, would you like to find solutions?

Our personal development training courses, implemented and fine-tuned over the last 25 years, are there to address these questions with a unique approach and method.

What is the training about?
Excellence. Doing the best we can with all the resources that are available to us.

As an established youth organisation, working at both international and local levels, we’ve come to realise that what makes an excellent professional is their capacity to self-reflect in an accountable manner. To acknowledge how their mindset - their beliefs and values - affect their behaviours and their role in the results they achieve, while being aware that whatever they do at work mirrors their patterns in their personal lives, and vice-versa.

These training courses are an invitation to challenge our mindsets towards an improvement for greatness. To let go of certainties that might make us right, but don’t make our lives work. To go beyond stories that trap us. These courses stand as an opening to welcome an impactful new perspective on life, to create the space for decisions and taking actions that give a sense of purpose and passion to our lives.

They are there to bring a fundamental question: “What is the gift I am missing giving to myself to be who I am fully?” Our training courses are there for self-reflection, to invite you to bring forward questions that matter about yourself.

By participating, you will have the opportunity for
Reflect on your beliefs, values and attitudes: where do they come from, how they are manifested and how they affect your life.
Identify your usual ways of doing and thinking and the impact they have on your personal and professional life
Acquire models and tools to align yourself with your core values.
Become more inclusive towards others and unexpected situations.
Do what you say, and say what you do by putting your experience into real-life practice.
What can you expect?

Self-reflection
Understanding your mindset and its core elements (beliefs, concepts, automatic behaviours), how they affect the results you get in life, and how you work with others. It will be a journey into expanding what works and improving what doesn’t work when it comes to your mindset. Input, activities, and reflection spaces will be there to guide you on this exploration

Submersion
Real-life experience/Outdoor - The best way to put knowledge from theory to application is to practice in a real-life situation or context. You will have several assignments to complete in the local communities around the venue of the training. You will be able to put into practice the competences acquired throughout the previous days of the TC.

Final steps
The last day(s) are there to wrap up the learning experience of the TC, in such a way that the insights can be taken home in a structured manner, to plan follow-up steps, and to close the TC together.
This training courses are for people, who are
Working or volunteering as staff members of youth organizations, mentors, youth leaders, and educators for at least 6 months
Fully willing and able to take part in an intensive program with long working hours, with an unconventional approach that might not work for everyone.
Methodology
Our approach is mainly based on experiential learning or learning by doing. We will provide several inputs, activities and moments for reflection, it will be up to you to make the links with your own background. This training is there for you to learn what you want to learn, to draw your own conclusions, so you can implement it after the training is over. To support your learning process the trainers will have a coaching attitude, in order to create the maximum learning space. More specifically, we combine elements from formal education, non-formal and informal learning, as we find all of them purposeful when applied to the right context. The TCs are there for self-reflection, on what participants bring and where they would like to go. As such, we are not focusing on providing any kind of soft skills.

Practicals

Afonso Bértolo [Changemaker]
Trainer, facilitator and educational consultant, with a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. "While studying for my master’s degree I came across theater and it made me realize the power of individuals coming together, sharing meaningful experiences and becoming a creative community. Since 2009 I have been involved in non-formal education, NGO consultancy and community development across Europe and in West Africa. My main areas of expertise are personal development, impactful communication, embodied coaching (somatic/body awareness methods combined with a coaching approach), and educational program design. My core values are love, creation and inspiration. They are the drive behind my mission as a professional: creating educational projects that enable the growth of individuals, either at a professional or personal level, in the context of other people. I’m guided by a deep-seated belief that strong bonds are forged by shared experiences: firstly, by doing together, and upon that creating a common meaning, from which community identity is forged. This is only possible if there is an educational context which is engaging since we, as individuals, learn out of interest."

Norbert Hochstein [See Beyond]
Action learning facilitator, trainer, education program developer, with an NLP Master Practitioner diploma. "In my family, I was the first to enter higher education, and I finished my studies as a Business IT specialist specialising in the Bank sector. During my years at the university, I have discovered the difference between formal and non-formal education. I had the privilege to take part in many courses and make a clear distinction on which direction I would like to develop. Since 2009, I have been involved in the youth and NGO sector, and it made me realize that my path must do a lot with supporting people in their learning path. I have dived into many different methods while I created my own way of delivering trainings, such as NLP, DISC, design thinking, action learning, learning by doing and art and movement therapeutic methods, using their unique combination to boost the learning journey. I am mostly focused on personal and creativity development during my courses. During my work, I build on my core values which are care playfulness and a sense of humor. Every learning event of mine is designed and implemented based on these values."
