The training for facilitators, which is an insightful learning experience created by Egyesek happens for the 5th time. All the cycles have their own names, the one taking place now is called Facilitate The Change Reloaded.
Lead trainer Afonso Bértolo, who has worked with Egyesek for more than eight years, notes that one of the program's core values is building community. “This training brings people from different countries together, creating a space of acceptance and support. We learn to work together despite our differences,” he shares. For him, Facilitate The Change Reloaded is not only about facilitation, but also about forming a new type of interaction where mutual understanding, respect and shared values are important.
One of the key elements of the training is that participants take part in 3 residential trainings throughout 11 months at the Creative Space in the Hungarian village of Hollókő, where a space for intensive exchange of experiences is created.
The program is designed for people who have experience in running youth programs and plan to facilitate activities in the next six months after the training. Participants complete a series of three face-to-face training sessions. The key topics cover development of group dynamics, non-verbal communication, coaching and even elements of NLP, which help to deepen understanding of the interaction processes in the group.
Moreover, participants have the opportunity to become part of the Egyesek Trainers' Hub, a network of trainers across Europe that opens up new opportunities for collaboration and professional development.
The methodology of the training cycle is based on the principle of integrity and learning by doing. There are no strict expectations about what participants should learn. Everyone receives tools and reflective practices, but the key idea is that the learning process is individualized based on personal experiences and goals.
The program cycle consists of 3 modules. The first training The Basics focused on learning basic tools for working with groups and developing confidence in the role of a facilitator.
The second training cycle Self-coaching was devoted to self coaching and realizing personal resources for effective leadership. “This training is about self coaching. We learn not only how to help others, but also how to find ways to support ourselves in our professional work,” says one of the trainers, Stella. Participants engaged in deep self-reflection, identified their core values, and worked on aligning their personal goals with their facilitation practice. This process helped them build confidence, develop emotional resilience, and see the advantages of collaboration in facilitation.
For the participants, it is not only an educational experience, but also an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their role in working with youth. “I saw how I can facilitate events and contribute to the community. It's not just a job, it's what makes me happy,” says one participant. Many emphasize that the most valuable thing has been making meaningful connections with people from different countries. “With each training, our connections grow stronger and I know that some of these people will stay in my life for a long time,” shares another participant.
The third and final training, Masterclass, will take place on 3-11 September 2025, focusing on applying all learned competencies in real-life facilitation. Participants will engage in hands-on facilitation practice, receiving direct feedback from trainers and other participants. Through experiential learning and guided reflection, participants will consolidate their skills, ensuring they can independently lead engaging and impactful training sessions in their own communities.
Facilitate The Change Reloaded is a program that goes beyond standard trainings. It offers a space for growth, self-reflection, and the realization that facilitation is not just about transferring knowledge, but creating an environment where people can learn from each other. For those who want to grow as a facilitator, find their role in the community and become part of an international network of trainers, this is a great opportunity to step up.
