We are looking for enthusiastic young people who would like to try their hand at leading a group in one of Egyesek's youth exchanges.
Youth exchanges...?
Youth exchanges are 10-12 day summer programmes where young people from 6-8 countries come together to learn about each other, different cultures, teamwork, communication and a variety of topics and challenges in an international community that can lead to life-changing friendships and life-changing moments.
We are currently not organizing any youth exchanges in Hungary and not sending groups abroad, but we’re looking for 5–7 group leaders every year. So if this sounds like something for you, don’t hesitate to apply and be part of the adventure!
Leading a group...?
Our youth exchanges involve 4 young people (aged 16-23) and a group leader from each country. The group leader works with the organisers before, during and after the exchange to ensure that the participants have the most special experience possible.
Before our Youth Exchanges in Hungary, there is a Preparatory Visit, a weekend where the group leaders and organisers meet in Hollókő to get to know the location, and each other, and learn more about the programme and the art of leading groups. You can also learn how to prepare the Hungarian team and what information you need to pass on to the other Hungarian participants. For international Youth Exchanges where we participate as a partner by sending a group, the preparation usually happens through interactive online sessions, giving group leaders the chance to connect, plan, and get ready together before the adventure begins.
During the youth exchange, the group leader is the safe point for his/her national team. You can practise how to create a safe environment for other young people in a supportive and helping role, help them to solve their own problems and of course deal with all the different experiences. You can also practise the art of conversation and reflection almost every day - you can lead small reflection groups during the programme.
After the youth exchange, you can work together with the organizers of Egyesek to bring the Hungarian team together once again, help them reflect on the youth exchange and draw lessons from it.
